I do not think a spec is the whole product. But I do think teams underrate how much useful structure is already sitting there before anyone starts writing docs or setting up a sandbox from scratch.
What can be generated safely
- developer portal structure
- reference pages and endpoint navigation
- example snippets and request scaffolding
- the initial shape of a sandbox environment
What still needs human judgment
- which workflows matter most to actual users
- what realistic seed data should look like
- where business rules and state transitions need refinement
- how to explain the API in human language instead of schema language
This is not about automation for the sake of feeling futuristic. It is about not spending a quarter rebuilding the same structural layer from the same source material.
